This is Louie’s story. It is messy, chaotic, and confusing – but it is Louie’s, and so it is valuable. All stories – no matter what happens – are valuable. (*ahem* the ‘story’ symbolizes an individual’s life…)
At an M3 (11/07/16) this story was read while paired with chaotic activity. If you would like to do the activity – tread carefully. I would say sixth grade and up…and even then, maybe prime them by saying that they are not going to get to keep what they’re coloring. If you have a mature group though – by all means, trust your instincts. This book truly does work for all ages.

Some Debrief Questions –
- Why does Louie like his story?
- Why is everything fine?
- Can you think of a time when something didn’t go your way? How did you feel?
- Is a person important no matter what happens to them in their life?
- ...the answer is yes. But having them face the answer can be positive.
- What would the world be like if there were never any ‘messes’?
- Messes can be spun as a variety of uniqueness…without messes, we do not experience what it means to be alive.
