“If we respect ourselves and each other, then we should also respect the spaces, items, and times we share together.There are many ways to interpret this week’s theme. In its simplest form, “Our Space” refers to respecting the environment you share with others, because you share it. This is likely the interpretation you will use with younger students – although feel free to touch on all sizes of “space” and “environment.” Beyond tidiness however are less cut and dry qualities – like organizing shared items, and treating the items with respect. While working with older groups, volunteers are encouraged to focus on broader shared environments – like the literal environment, for example. Additionally, a more nuanced approach can be taken in conjunction to the idea of self-respect being tied to respecting shared space.
