“Kindness is a superpower. We are heroes when we help each other."
Helping Others is a concept even the youngest of our students understand to some degree. In its simplest form, we help others because it is a “good” thing to do. We have to help others if we want to contribute (power word runner-up) to a more peaceful society. Remember – we are all powerful. Shouldn’t we use our power for good?
Assuming that our older students are a hair more cynical than our younger students – it is prudent to take a more complex approach to Spring's Spotlight theme, and Peacemaker Projects altogether. Focus on the meaning and potential of our students’ actions. And condemn the impulse some may have to not help individuals they do not care for. Have the Peacemaker Project address a societal problem the students actually care for – give them a reason to work with responsibility and purpose. |
