The students of Diffendoofer School love their classes, teachers, and each other. Everyone is unique and chaos is celebrated. One day the principal announces that a test is coming to their school – a test they must pass, lest they end up going to Flobbertown school – where everyone does everything the same. Full poem here, if you want just a taste of the plot.
This book was based off verses and drawings for a story Dr. Seuss never had a chance to finish. It was completed by the authors, and published sometime after his death. This is a great book about the power of diversity and unity – two concepts that do not get paired together nearly enough.

Debriefing Ideas:
- Why was everyone in Flobbertown so sad and dreary?
- Would you like to live in a place where everybody was the same?
- Why [not]? Were the teacher’s truly teaching them in the end?
- They were – because they pass the test, despite the eccentric lessons.
- Do you think enjoying school helped the students score so high?
